Burn Permits are free to the public, and are valid for one year from issue date. To request a Burn Permit, please contact the township secretary, by telephone or email, with your name and property address, and it will be mailed to you.

The Burn Permit authorizes residents to conduct permitted burning activities between sunrise and sunset. Please note that no open fire or uncontained fire shall be allowed to smolder between sunset and sunrise. All burning activities must be supervised by a responsible adult with fire extinguishing apparatus within close proximity to the fire. It shall be unlawful to burn any materials prohibited by the Ordinance. PRIOR to the burning of any uncontained fire, the Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department must be notified. This includes, but is not limited to Bon Fires, Brush Fires, and Open Field Burning.

A “NO BURN” ORDER ISSUED BY THE COMMONWEALTH OF  PENNSYLVANIA, COUNTY OF WASHINGTON, OR THE TOWNSHIP OF JEFFERSON SUPERCEDES THE BURN PERMIT.
